Rather than resolve to do- perhaps you could begin this year with reflection?
Caring and nurturing for a garden teaches us many things.
No one-year is the same. Observing and reflecting on what
worked in your garden and what didn’t is very useful for
the oncoming year? What sensory elements would you like
to develop into your garden, more colour, more fragrance?
What have you seen in other gardens in your district that
you’d like to incorporate into your garden?
Gardens constantly evolve and change with us, with our
family needs with time allocation, with fashion and with the
seasons, with the years and with weather conditions. Good
gardeners just go with it, you can’t control it so enjoy the wonderful ephemeral nature of your garden, the
challenges and the all the delightful pleasures.
Wishing you happy days in your garden for 2011.

There are rather a lot of “good on the tooth”
plants in the world of all things horticultural.
Gardenias and Citrus are certainly some of
them –
< how to do I grow >
In January a walk through your garden with a bag of fertiliser
will make you very popular with your plants. Look out for
some tell tale yellowing on leaves, as this means hunger has
really taken hold.
If your Gardenias, Citrus, Azaleas or Daphnes are slightly off
colour a little application of some iron chelates will return
them to green and perky. Call into your local Grow Master
and we’ll tell you how to apply iron chelates.
Use Nurserymens blend fertiliser for the garden and Patio
Magic for the pots.

Don’t forget the Cymbidiums.
It’s too late to feed your Cymbidium orchids when they’re flowering (late winter –spring), they are setting their flower
stems now and this is when they need some tucker.
Out you go with that fertiliser again!
Use Patio Magic, then alternate with our plant starter and a seaweed
tonic fortnightly.

Corymbia ficifolia – Grafted flowering Gums.
The summer gums are now in full flowery flight and are
looking truly spectacular.
Grafting ensures crisp bright and true colours and even
some dwarfing characteristics.
Pop into your Grow Master and discover the range of
colours available in this very versatile little native tree.
(Regretfully Howrah Grow Master is unable to stock
Corymbia ficifolia.)

Impressive at every season! – From mid summer
flowering commences for the Crepe Myrtle family and
they are available in a truly extraordinary range of colours
and sizes. It would be possible to fill your entire garden from
ground cover to shrub to tall tree, using only Crepe Myrtles,
this is probably a bit over the top? However there is a
Crepe Myrtle for every situation. A garden must have!
